Updates from State Rep. Nick Gauthier for July 24, 2026

July 24, 2026

I am thrilled that I received an A+ from the Connecticut Education Association, and was named to its Honor Roll, for my legislative record this past session.

I've always believed that investing in our students, supporting our educators, and strengthening our public schools is one of the smartest investments we can make. I'm grateful to the CEA for this recognition, and I'll continue working to ensure every child in Connecticut has access to a high-quality public education and every educator has the support they deserve.

Perfect Voting Record

Serving as your State Representative has always come with a responsibility I take seriously: showing up and doing the job you elected me to do. That's why I'm proud that I have maintained a 100% voting record, never missing a recorded vote on the House Floor or in Committee throughout the 2026 Legislative Session.

I made a promise when I took office that I would never avoid a difficult decision by missing a vote or leaving the chamber. You elected me to represent you, and that means being there to cast a vote — especially when the decisions are challenging.

Thank you for the privilege of representing the 38th District.

Blood Shortage

The American Red Cross needs our help — there is an emergency blood shortage, which means the blood supply is critically low  and could cause hospitals to triage blood products, prioritizing the most critical cases, delaying non-emergency procedures, and causing risks for patients who require timely transfusions, including trauma patients, women giving birth, and patients with chronic blood disorders.

Blood donors, especially those with types O+ & B- blood (the biggest shortages right now), and platelet donors are urgently needed to help ensure lifesaving medical care isn't delayed for patients.

Farmers Market Week

August 2 to 8 is Connecticut Farmers Market Week, in conjunction with National Farmers Market Week.

Farmers markets are more than places to shop — they strengthen our local economy, support family farms, improve access to fresh, healthy food, and create vibrant community gathering spaces. Every purchase made at a farmers market helps sustain Connecticut agriculture and keeps food dollars circulating in our local communities.

I encourage everyone to celebrate Connecticut Farmers Market Week by visiting a local farmers market, meeting the farmers who grow our food, and supporting the businesses that make our agricultural heritage so strong. Together, we can continue investing in local agriculture, healthy communities, and a resilient food system.
