Dear Neighbor,

As you may have heard, Neo-Nazi flyers have been found in Wethersfield as well as West Hartford. In Wethersfield, a flyer was allegedly handed to a 1st grader.  We must do more to make sure the next generation understands the importance of confronting hate and do not become complicit in discrimination.

In recent years, the General Assembly has made strides to make the history of marginalized groups an integral part of our student's education. In 2019, I supported Public Act No. 18-24, AN ACT CONCERNING THE INCLUSION OF HOLOCAUST AND GENOCIDE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS IN THE SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM. This bill requires schools to  include Holocaust and genocide education and awareness as part of the social studies curriculum for the school district.

There is no room for hate in our community.
