Important Notice: "Mega-Pour" Concrete Event

April 8, 2024

I'm writing to inform you about a significant event taking place at the stormwater pump station construction site on Tuesday, April 9th (with a rain date on Wednesday, April 10th or Thursday, April 11th).

On this day, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be conducting a "mega-pour" of concrete. This one-time event is expected to be completed by 6:00 PM, with work potentially continuing into the evening. This work is part of the Raymark Industries Superfund Site cleanup, a necessary stormwater management component funded by the EPA.

Once completed, the pump station will serve the entire Platt Street drainage basin and be operated by the Town of Stratford. Construction began in May 2022 and is currently scheduled to be completed in April 2025.

Concrete Event

During this operation, approximately six to eight concrete mixing trucks will arrive and depart from the work site each hour. These trucks will travel to and from the pump station construction site via East Main and Avery Streets, potentially resulting in a concrete mixing truck traveling down Avery Street every five to ten minutes.

While the EPA is taking measures to minimize disruption, there may be intermittent traffic impacts during the day. Additionally, there will be general construction noise and back-up safety beepers, along with temporary lighting at the construction site during pre-dawn and post-sunset hours.
