Rep. Haddad Recognizes Louis Goffinet of Mansfield as a a Community Hero

April 23, 2020

Mansfield, Conn. - Earlier this month, State Representative Gregory Haddad (D-Mansfield) issued a call for nominations of individuals in the Mansfield who are going above and beyond, working and volunteering to help the community through the challenges of social distancing under Covid-19.

The first nominee, Louis Goffinet, was announced today. Louis is a middle school teacher and Mansfield resident who is contributing his time to assist low income and at-risk households with grocery shopping. Louis’ volunteering started with a few families but has since grown to serve more with the creation of a community fund, which has raised over $8,000. All of the proceeds assist families facing difficult financial situations in the Mansfield area.

"Thank you for your time and dedication, Louis Goffinet," Rep. Haddad said. "For those who wish to contribute, they can help sustain Louis’ work by contributing to the Neighbors for Grocery Relief Fund on Facebook."

For his organizing efforts these past weeks, two separate people—Heather and Julia—nominated Louis.

Heather wrote; “He flies under the radar. Most people are unaware of the work he is doing every day to support families in our small, rural community. I'd love for him to be recognized for his unselfish work.”

Rep. Haddad is still accepting nominations for community heroes. Those who have a nominee in mind can send in a photo, name, and a few sentences about why they are nominating a community hero to Gregory.Haddad@cga.ct.gov.
