$7.7 Million in Funding to Transform Mill River Park

October 1, 2024

I’m pleased to announce that Stamford will receive approximately $7.7 million in state funding to finish planned upgrades at Mill River Park. The project includes a new and permanent event space, year-round restrooms, an expansive dog park, seating, and play areas. The enhancements will improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians along the busy Washington Boulevard. The funding is coming from the Community Investment Fund 2030.
Mill River Park welcomes nearly 250,000 visitors each year and gives individuals and families an opportunity to escape the city by connecting with nature. The park also bring people together with its summer camps, carousel rides, food truck festivals, and, later this year, critical subsidized after-school care. All of these programs may expand once crews finish this valuable project.
I am grateful for the work everyone put together, including the Stamford delegation and Mill River Park Collaborative, to make these park improvements a reality. From expanded seating to dedicated areas for play and events, these upgrades will ensure our city’s central downtown park serves as a welcoming destination for everyone, year-round.
