Chair of Government Administration and Election Committee Re-Appointment

December 10, 2024

Connecticut Speaker of the House Matt Ritter and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas announced I will serve another term as House Chair of the committee most recently known as Government, Administration and Elections (GAE). This means I will play a key role in how no-excuse absentee voting will look like in Connecticut.

“Matt Blumenthal is dedicated to improving access to voting and has made incredible changes to modernize Connecticut’s voting system,” said Speaker Ritter. “With the constitutional amendment on absentee ballots passing, Matt will have a lot of work ahead of him this year.”

I'm tremendously grateful for the continued trust and confidence Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas have placed in me. We've made historic progress in the past few years, implementing Early Voting, passing a constitutional amendment allowing Absentee Voting for All, and numerous other reforms.

I look forward to continuing our work to increase the accessibility, efficiency, and security of our elections, to make government more transparent and accountable, and to ensure our state government is best structured to serve Connecticut's residents. I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead on these issues for the next two years.
