I was honored to participate in an important conversation about men’s health on the Connecticut Health Report podcast with Connecticut Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani.
We had an all-encompassing conversation where I shared my personal journey with prostate cancer, the importance of early detection, available treatment options, and ways to encourage more men to prioritize their health and attend check-ups.
The conversation was meaningful as June is Men’s Health Month, a cause that has become deeply personal to me since my prostate cancer diagnosis three-and-a-half years ago.
Since my diagnosis, I have worked hard to raise awareness about men's health and advocate for greater outreach and education. I was proud to play a major role in securing state funding for a men's health awareness campaign that encouraged men across Connecticut to take charge of their health through messages on television, radio, social media, and other platforms in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Juthani and I also discussed the importance of open and honest conversations about self-care. Too often, men put the needs of the families ahead of their own and delay routine screenings or medical care. Knowing your family health history, getting recommended screenings, and speaking openly with your provide can make a life-saving difference. |

Sharing my personal battle with cancer has allowed me to connect with countless individuals and families facing similar challenges. My hope is that these conversations resonate with men and encourage them to take proactive steps toward living healthier lives.
