Apply Now For Home Energy Assistance

Higher energy bills are a challenge for everyone, but you can get some help! The Generation Power CT (GPCT) Emergency Energy Assistance Program, formerly known as Operation Fuel, is accepting applications through Wednesday, September 10th!

This program provides a one-time grant of up to $500 toward a future fuel delivery or toward a past-due utility bill to eligible Connecticut individuals and families making up to 75% SMI gross household income.

For the best chance of approval, and to make full use of this once-per-12-months grant, GPCT strongly encourages households to apply for assistance when you are most in need.

There are four Energy Assistance Application Cycles:

  • September 2-10, 2025
  • November 2-10, 2025
  • January 2-10, 2026

Let's Talk About It: Union Rights

Two dedicated health care workers spoke about the importance of union rights ahead of Labor Day Weekend on my weekly radio show "Let's Talk About It." Both guests highlighted the vital role SEIU 1199, the New England Health Care Employees Union, has played in standing up for workers and ensuring they have a voice. Through strong organizing and advocacy, SEIU 1199 has fought for fair wages, safer working conditions, access to quality health care, and better benefits for its members.

My guests, Judy Kyle, a Licensed Practical Nurse at Complete Care at Harrington Court in Colchester, and Maya Guyton, a personal care attendant who provides care for her brother, shared powerful stories about how union support has changed their lives. They spoke about the dignity, stability, and security that comes from being part of a union that prioritizes the well-being of both workers and the people they serve.

Their experiences remind us that strong unions help build stronger communities. Protecting and expanding union rights is not only about fairness in the workplace, but it's about ensuring that every worker has the opportunity to thrive.

Labor Day Protest
Senator Richard Blumenthal joined my husband Dennis and me at a peaceful demonstration on Labor Day at Jillson Square. We participated in the nationwide "Workers Over Billionaires" movement to support democracy and oppose corporate domination. This protest was a reminder that working people built this country.
