Let's Talk About It: Energy Assistance |
We learned about an important energy assistance program on our latest episode of "Let's Talk About It." Kathleen Krider, the Senior Director of Community Engagement & Resource Management at Access Community Action Agency, explained that the need for help will continue to grow as we approach the colder months.
Access Community Action Agency's energy assistance program serves approximately 8,000 households across all 28 communities in Windham and Tolland Counties. Eligibility is based on income, and customers may qualify for up to three emergency allocations. |
CLICK HERE to apply for assistance or schedule an appointment by calling Access Community Action Agency's Willimantic office at (860) 450-7400. Please note that Access has a new phone system. To reach the Energy Department, press 3 and follow the prompts to book an appointment, check the application status, and schedule a delivery.
Access also partners with Eversource to provide more savings. Staff at Access can help determine eligibility and guide you through the application process. The office is located at 1315 Main Street, Willimantic.
In addition to energy support, Access offers food assistance through food pantries in Willimantic and Danielson. Click on the video below to learn more about that and the energy assistance program. |

Congratulations to Carlson Procare Physical Therapy on its grand re-opening in the BJ's Plaza on West Main Street. It was a pleasure to attend the ribbon cutting last week, tour the new and improved clinic, and meet your staff, which is dedicated to restoring, maintaining, and improving patients' movement and quality of life. The new facility will make a difference in our community! |
Another local business also had reason to celebrate last week! ACE Hardware in Willimantic was all smiles for its grand re-opening as the newly renovated store at 1561 Main Street welcomed the community with more products and continued exceptional service. Congratulations to the owners, staff, and loyal customers that make ACE a valued business in town! |

Protecting Covid-19 Vaccine Access |
Governor Ned Lamont issued executive orders to ensure that Connecticut has access to COVID-19 vaccines during the upcoming respiratory virus season.
These actions ensure that residents who wish to be vaccinated continue to have access and that coverage remains uninterrupted under state-regulated health insurance policies. |
The executive orders will:
- Permit pharmacists to order, prescribe, and administer the vaccine.
- Establish statewide guidelines for who is eligible to receive the vaccine. Adults of all ages can receive COVID-19 vaccinations at pharmacies and medical practices, while children between six months and 18 years of age can receive vaccinations through pediatric providers participating in the Connecticut Vaccine Program.
These steps make sure Connecticut residents can stay protected.
