This week, we paused to remember the victims and fallen heroes of the attacks on September 11. We honored the lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the resilience of families and communities forever changed.
Our community enjoyed a fabulous performance at the 23rd annual Jazz in the Garden last weekend. Please read below to find out how that event supports Windham Center.
The state is launching a new initiative called Fire Safe CT to prevent devastating fires. I'll break down how this collaborative effort aims to protect families in Windham and across the state.
Here are the sections in today's email:

On September 11, we paused to honor the memory of all the victims and the countless lives forever changed 24 years ago. The attacks left an indelible mark in Windham and the rest of the nation.
Our community will never forget those whose lives were stolen from us, nor the courage of the first responders, construction crews, service members, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to save others, and who worked tirelessly in the days and years that followed to help our country rebuild. Their bravery and sacrifice remain a testament to the resilience of the American spirit. |
|
Let us continue to stand together, hold close the memory of those we lost, and ensure that future generations understand the weight of the day and the strength that carried us through it. We will never forget. |

We talked about the wonderful Jazz in the Garden event, which took place last Sunday in Windham Center, on my weekly radio show. Steve Lamoreaux, the vice president on the board for the Windham Free Library, explained the event raises money for the Windham Free Library. |

This year's theme was Art and Community, and local artists were on hand selling their work. Jazz in Garden also featured a live auction, including prizes such as art, furniture, and experiences like dinners and vacation home rentals.

New Statewide Initiative To Prevent Fires |
|
|
Governor Ned Lamont has officially launched Fire Safe CT, a new statewide initiative aimed at reducing fire-related tragedies through public education and community support.
This coordinated effort brings state and local agencies, fire service professionals, and health care experts together to protect Connecticut from the dangers of fire. |
|
Core objectives include:
- Public Education: delivering clear, actionable fire prevention tips through multimedia campaigns—highlighting home safety, outdoor fire management, and burn injury prevention.
- Community Empowerment: providing local fire departments and municipal fire marshals with enhanced tools, educational materials, and support to boost community-level fire risk reduction efforts.
To learn more and get involved go to ct.gov/firesafe and for advice on outdoor fire safety, visit DEEP's Forest Fire Prevention Tips to learn how to protect your home, property, and the first responders who serve us.
