Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday!

The 2025 legislative session kicked off on Wednesday. I look forward to working with my colleagues to craft meaningful legislation that will benefit residents throughout the state.

I am honored to now serve as a Deputy Majority Leader and will be a member of the Environment, Judiciary, and Government Administration and Elections committees.

In addition to my committee assignments, I was also recently selected to be the co-chair of the legislative Screening Committee for the House. The Screening Committee is responsible for reviewing all legislation that passes out of committee and as the Majority Leader's Chair of Screening I will be responsible for managing the process on the floor of the House of Representatives when it is in session.

It is a tremendous honor to be selected for this position. I have greatly enjoyed being a part of the team led by our Majority Leader and welcome this new challenge. Thank you to Majority Leader Rojas for entrusting me with this important role. I look forward to a productive and efficient session with the support from my colleagues in the General Assembly.

Please see below for more information on how to stay up to date with the legislative session, a blood drive in Westport, and more!

Resources for the 2025 Session
It is now easier than ever for  Connecticut residents to follow along, get involved and stay informed with the legislative process in Hartford.

Here's how you can stay connected and actively participate:

  • You can view the Connecticut General Assembly's upcoming events on its schedule on the CGA official website
  • Follow CT-N for live coverage of committee meetings, as well as House and Senate floor debates.
  • You can register to monitor any bill's journey as it goes through the legislative process. By signing up, you can enter the bill number and receive real-time updates. Stay informed with email notifications whenever there's a change in the bill's progress.

Wrong Way Detection Installation on I-95 Southbound at Exit 17 in Westport
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced that a wrong way detection
installation will take place on I-95 southbound at Exit 17 in Westport. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, January 13 and be completed on Tuesday, January 14.

The wrong way detection system uses video cameras to detect vehicles that are traveling in the wrong direction. If a vehicle is detected, wrong way signs outlined with multiple sets of red lights are activated and begin flashing to alert the driver they are traveling in the wrong direction. Additionally, the system alerts the CTDOT highway operations center and local state police troop barracks in real-time, allowing staff to monitor the activities of the wrong way driver on the ramp.

For more information on CTDOT’s commitment to stopping wrong way drivers, visit https://portal.ct.gov/wrongwaydriving
