Veterans Day Ceremonies in Our Community
Westport's annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place Saturday at Town Hall.

The public event, paying tribute to Americans who have served in the nation’s armed forces, will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave.

At 10:30 a.m., prior to the 11 o’clock ceremony, the Westport Community Band will perform a concert of patriotic music and marches. The ceremony is organized by the Westport Veterans Council, led by William Vornkahl, the group’s president.

The local service takes places at the traditional time, scheduled to mark the anniversary of the armistice signing that ended World War I in 1918 — at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band is proud to present Rhythm in Blue, the unit’s dynamic jazz ensemble at VFW Post 399 in Westport on Wednesday, November 15th featuring jazz trumpeter and arranger, Michael P. Mossman.  This stellar group presents exciting and uplifting music to inspire patriotism and tell the Air Force story.
