Like so many in our community, the Fairfield delegation is shaken at the recent news of First Selectman Bill Gerber's health diagnosis. We send our best wishes to Bill & his family as they begin this journey, & offer our support to Selectman Christine Vitale, who will assume the role of acting First Selectman.

The protocol will be in effect from noon on Sunday until at least 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Connecticut Open House Day, now in its 21st year, is set to take place on Saturday, June 14. Held annually on the second Saturday of June, this statewide event invites residents to explore Connecticut’s rich array of cultural, historical, and recreational attractions right in their own backyard.

Bipartisan energy reform legislation overwhelmingly approved earlier this month by the General Assembly will help lower electricity bills both in the short and long term for Connecticut ratepayers.

Connecticut’s Opioid Services Division was established in 2018 in response to the growing overdose crisis and to expand statewide access to the prevention of opioid use disorder, opioid treatment, recovery support, harm reduction, outreach, engagement, and overdose prevention coverage with a focus on overdose deaths. This marks the third consecutive year of decreases of statewide overdose deaths.

Tax relief for working families; investing in education and special education; historical funding for childcare and early childhood education; and strong support for our nonprofit service providers are all pillars of the new two-year state budget which will take effect July 1.

During Monday’s budget debate, I felt the need to stand up to refute the dangerous anti-trans rhetoric spoken on the House floor.
