I was pleased to attend the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) Women-Owned Business Day at the Capitol on April 11 to celebrate the economic strength of women-owned businesses. Women-owned businesses are critical to the state’s economy but also to the economic vitality of communities and in building generational wealth.
In the past 20 years, CT-based women-owned businesses have grown by 56%, and our businesses now contribute more than $16 billion a year to our gross state product! Right here in the 149th District, the WBDC serves 73 clients and has distributed about $41,000 in funds since 2020. These grants are critical to providing small businesses with the capital they need to grow.
