Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! First, I want to recognize the completion of the holy month of Ramadan for all who have observed and celebrated. I hope you and your family had a meaningful Eid al-Fitr filled with peace and blessings.

Session will be ramping up next week, as we will start meeting as a full legislative body to debate and send bills to the governor's desk to be signed into law. This will be a very busy time, and I'll be sure to keep you updated on all the important work we accomplish.

In this week's eblast, you can read about progress on air quality in our schools, Fairfield's first movie premiere, and more. You can click on the links below to navigate between sections.

Advocating for Indoor Air Quality Funding
It was an honor to be joined by members of the Indoor Air Quality Working Group - of which myself and Sen. Julie Kushner are chairs - to celebrate National Healthy Schools Day and reflect on the progress we've made in enhancing the air quality in schools and all the work that remains to be done. You can watch that press conference here.

In just two years, Connecticut has invested nearly $200 million into system-level fixes to our school buildings to ensure our students, teachers, and staff have clean and healthy air. Our legislation includes requirements for annual Tools-for-Schools walk throughs and thorough ventilation and air quality assessments for each building every 5 years to avoid unhealthy or dangerous settings for our children and educators. We now have the systems in place to not only fix schools with dangerous air quality, but to catch problems before they become a danger.

These outcomes are not only good for the health of students, teachers, and staff, but are conducive to a more productive learning environment.

Our work is certainly not done, and I look forward to continuing our advocacy for state funding assistance to ensure we reach every school that needs building-level assistance to improve their air quality.

The legacy of excellence continues! Congratulations to our unstoppable Huskies on a back-to-back NCAA championship titles! Let's go for three!
If you're free tomorrow, the Huskies will hold their victory parade in Hartford at 11am starting at the State Capitol Building and ending at the XL Center.

Sacred Heart University Community Theater's Movie Premiere!
Fairfield got the true red carpet treatment this week, as the Sacred Heart University Community Theater hosted its first-ever movie premiere for "The Long Game," an inspiring true story about Mexican-American caddies seeking to learn how to play golf and create their own team.

This was a huge effort from many partners including Fairfield Police Department to make the night a huge success- thank you! The Long Game Movie is out in theaters nation wide today. It’s a great story with an important message and I highly recommend it!

    Ribbon Cuttings in Our District
A big congratulations to Wake-Cup Coffee for opening their second location, and Cibus Latin Fusion Fairfield for coming to Fairfield! I'm always looking for new experiences Fairfield has to offer, and these are two great additions!

Wake-Cup Coffee's new location is at the NY-bound/south-bound platform at the Fairfield Train Station, and Cibus Latin Fusion is now open at 1809 Post Road - I hope you'll check them out!

    National Library Week
I hope you've had a great National Library Week!

Now is as good a time as ever to visit your local library, get your library card, and dive into a wonderful book.

Connecticut House Democrats stand with local librarians as we heed their invaluable insights and work together to pass legislation that supports literacy, education, and access to knowledge for all. Let's write a brighter future, one chapter at a time.

    American Revolution Experience Event
There's a great event coming to the Old Academy at the Fairfield Town Green in a couple weeks called "The American Revolutionary Experience." At this event you can learn about the American Revolution through a unique fusion of both biography and geography.

This free event runs from April 30 to May 19. You can visit Monday through Wednesday from 3-5pm, Thursday from 3-7pm, and Saturday and Sunday from noon-4pm.

Explore the people and places of America's war for independence thanks to a collaboration between the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust. Coupling an incredible archive of documents and industry-leading digital content, this traveling exhibit shares the experiences of ordinary people who witnessed the dawn of a new nation.

This event promises to be a unique experience delving in to the founding of our country in a way never told before, and I hope you'll check it out!
