Happy Friday!
This week, I spent over 12 hours in a Public Health Committee public hearing - but it brought progress for Connecticut.
- We took a monumental step in addressing the maternal health crisis, working to improve safety and equity in healthcare.
- Senate Bill 7 was passed, protecting our state’s rights and shielding residents from harmful federal overreach.
- We upheld reproductive rights in Connecticut, ensuring these essential protections remain strong despite shifting national policies.
Despite the demanding hours, these wins remind us why the work we do is so important. Progress is always worth the effort!

I hope you'll join me, our state Attorney General William Tong, and our Comptroller Sean Scanlon for an event on senior scams and how you can save on prescription drugs happening Wednesday, May 7 at 10am at the Plainville Senior Center (200 East St, Plainville). |
|
This event will discuss information for elders, caregivers, and family members, how to prevent fraud and protect your rights, the ArrayRx prescription drug discount program, and more. I hope to see you there!
You can read more about the event and register to attend here. |

This week, I had the privilege of speaking at the Equal Pay Day press conference.

In 2025, women are still earning only $0.84 for every dollar a man makes. This is unacceptable, and we must continue the fight for equality.
Our state is facing challenges in recruiting and retaining workers. To bridge this gap, we must ensure women are treated with respect in the workplace and close the wage gap once and for all.

It was also great attending the Postpartum Support International Legislative Breakfast led by my friend and colleague Rep. Kai Belton. Rep. Belton has been doing amazing work to improve maternal health, and I was happy to support this initiative. |
|
Finally, I'm proud to announce that I’ve joined the AI Caucus to support this critical legislation, positioning Connecticut as a leader in the responsible and innovative use of artificial intelligence!
A heartfelt thank you to Senator Maroney and Rep Delany for their dedication and hard work in shaping this forward-thinking initiative.
