Legislative Update for 8.7.25

August 7, 2025

I am proud to share that for the 2025 legislative session, I received a 93% voting score from, and was named new voice of the environment of the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters in its 2025 Environmental Scorecard.

At a time when we are seeing more of the effects of climate change, as well as trying to reduce our reliance on nonrenewable fossil fuels and our carbon footprint, these votes are more important now than ever and something I take very seriously.

I will always support protecting the environment, preserving our natural resources and fighting for environmental justice in our communities.

Sierra Club CT 'Walk with a Purpose'

Speaking of the environment, please join me for this Sierra Club CT event, Walk with a Purpose, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve in Niantic. It's a chance to keep the preserve clean by picking up trash along the way. Bring water and a comfortable pair of shoes.

Registration is required; please do so here.

Climate Resilience

Connecticut has the opportunity to lead on climate resilience and I’m proud to be part of that work.

From flood protection to green infrastructure, smart investments today will protect our communities and strengthen our economy for years to come.

Montville Bonding

Great news for Montville! The bonding commission and the governor approved $1.4 million to preserve nearly 700 acres of open space in Montville. As well as $625,000 in Montville recreation upgrades.

National Conference of State Legislatures

This week, I joined several Connecticut legislators at the National Conference of State Legislatures 50th Summit in Boston.

It was exciting to exchange ideas, learn from other states, and bring back fresh solutions for our communities.

Collaboration like this helps us serve Connecticut even better.

Standing in Solidarity with Texas Democrats

While at the conference, we traveled to the Massachusetts State House with other legislators from across the country to stand in solidarity with our colleagues from Texas.

The federal regime’s naked power grab to rig congressional districts is yet another attack on democracy and a blatant attempt to shield itself from accountability for its policy failures.

We cannot allow those in power to undermine fair representation. We must win the fight for democracy.

Around the 37th

I was on my bike last week as part of my ongoing Listening Tour! Connecting with neighbors and hearing directly from you about the issues that matter most.

Whether it’s housing, healthcare, education, or local concerns, I want to hear what’s on your mind. Hope to see you out there!

I was privileged to join the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and the Niantic Rotary Club in recognizing Petty Officer Ebony Reece as Service Person of the Month.

Her dedication and service inspire us, and we’re proud to honor her contributions to our community and country.

Thank you to East Lyme First Selectman Dan Cunningham and Selectman Jason Deeble for joining me in celebrating this well-deserved recognition.

Last week I had a great visit with Representative Haines to American Ambulance Service, Inc. in Norwich!

We’re incredibly grateful for their vital work keeping our communities safe and healthy across the region. From emergency response to education and community outreach, their dedication makes a real difference daily.

Thank you to all the EMTs, dispatchers, paramedics, and staff for your service!

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns about my work in Hartford and the changes you hope to see in the 37th District!

Sincerely,

Nick Menapace
State Representative
