Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, street takeovers have become a national issue, including here in Connecticut. This cannot become the new normal.

As utility service shutoffs for non-payment will start again on May 2, the state’s Consumer Counsel is warning residents about a possible scam targeting utility customers whose bills are overdue.

Early voting options are now available thanks to the work of the Connecticut General Assembly last session. This legislation was made possible by a state Constitutional amendment approved by a wide majority of Connecticut voters in 2022.

The 2024 legislative session opened on Wednesday at 10am and was followed by a joint session of the House and Senate where Governor Lamont gave his State of the State annual address. Governor Lamont presented a $26.1 billion budget that tackles $500 million reduction in bonded debt and prioritizes investments in child care and education while maintaining fiscal restrain in most other areas.

Connecticut has launched its new jobs portal, jobs.ct.gov, which is aimed at assisting state residents — and those seeking to move here — in the process of finding a job.
