As the House Bonding Subcommittee Chairman, I am happy to announce that an additional $4 million toward the cleanup of the Bristol Babcock Complex in Waterbury was approved during Thursday's State Bond Commission meeting. This grant will be administered through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
The funding will help finance the demolition of the current structure and the remediation of pollutants on the property. Ultimately, it will prepare this property for economic development in the future. This was a brownfield remediation priority for Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski and we are thrilled it’s becoming a reality!
I would like to thank the Governor Ned Lamont, Speaker of House Matt Ritter and DEEP officials for prioritizing this important project. Also, I would like to thank State Senator Joan Hartley and the entire Waterbury Delegation for their assistance along the way.
