Access to Free Community College

July 14, 2020
As COVID-19 continues to dominate the attention of our state, I am still fighting to keep promises made to the Manchester Community. In my commitment to increase access to higher education, Community Colleges across the state, including Manchester Community College, will offer free enrollment for state residents. But you need to hurry, the deadline to file is TOMORROW.

Thanks to legislation I voted for and helped pass, $3 million in one-time funding has been allocated to launch the Pledge to Advance Connecticut program or PACT, which is the state's tuition and fee-free community college program.

PACT eligibility requirements:

  • Be a graduate of a public or private Connecticut high school (GED and home-schooled students qualify)
  • Be a first-time college student (those who participated in dual enrollment programs while in high school are not excluded)
  • Fill out FAFSA and accept all awards
  • Attend community college full-time (12 or more credits per semester)
  • Apply and register by July 15, 2020 for priority consideration
  • Participate in a degree or credit-bearing certificate program
  • Once enrolled, remain in good academic standing
Get Started
  • Select a College among the 12 locations and hundreds of areas of study
  • Apply online at your selected college
  • Complete the FAFSA application online and accept all grants
  • Register for 12+ credits before July 15
  • Once Enrolled, remain in good academic standing
The entire enrollment process must be completed by July 15th, which includes not only admissions but placement, financial aid and class registration, so it's crucial to start the applications now!
