East Hartford Town Facilities
East Hartford Town Facilities Re-Open Tuesday, September 8 for limited access and by appointment only on Tuesday, September 8. Visitors must make an appointment in advance with the department they are looking to access. Upon arriving, visitors should park in spaces designed for visitor parking and call the department they’ve made an appointment with to confirm their arrival; then a Town Hall employee will greet them at the front door and escort them to their appointment.
Additional requirements may apply based on the appointment type and department. All visitors will be required to complete a health-screening questionnaire, have their temperature taken, wear a face mask and follow strict social distancing measures.
The following departments will be offering in-person services during this soft opening of Town Facilities:
Town Clerk’s Office –access to the vault for title searches, surveyors, attorneys and paralegals or land records. Each appointment would be scheduled in half hour intervals.
Youth Services – counseling services
Public Safety Complex – access to the Record’s Division and fingerprinting services.
Library – limited access to materials, computer use, and photocopying/printing/faxing services. For additional in-person services please see this link.
Senior Services – appointments for foot care nurse, hairdresser and audiologist.
All other town services will continue to be made available remotely and through the town website at www.easthartfordct.gov, online permitting and registration platform, by phone, mail, email and the drop-box in the Town Hall parking lot. Please continue to use our remote services and call 860-291-7200 with any questions or concerns
US Census Bureau at the East Hartford Farmers Market through September 30
The United States Census Bureau representatives will be present on Fridays at the East Hartford Farmers' Market through September 30, to assist residents with their Census application forms and answer any Census-related questions. Currently, East Hartford's response rate is at 66.1 percent, which is below the State average. It's instrumental that Everyone Counts in East Hartford this year to ensure our community receives the funding it deserves.
Please stop by the East Hartford Farmers' market on Fridays 9 am to 1 pm outside the East Hartford Public Library at 840 Main Street, and fill out your Census forms, if you haven't done so. The Farmers' Market runs through October 30.

Parks and Recreation
East Hartford Parks and Recreation will be offering a combination of virtual and outdoor programming this fall, as we work toward resuming some of our typical indoor programming as soon as we are able to. More classes and exciting special events are in the works, but here are some of our initial offerings:
Youth Tennis (Grades K-8), Martial Arts - Tae Kwon Do (Ages 5 - 11), Introduction to Dance - Ballet (Ages 5 - 11).

East Hartford Social Services Reminds you to Apply for 2020 Renters Rebate Program
The East Hartford Social Services Department would like to remind eligible renters that the deadline to apply for this year’s Renters Rebate Program is October 1, 2020. As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, applications will be taken exclusively over the phone.
Applicants are asked to call Social Services at 860-291-7248 to schedule a telephone application time. Please know, appointments are filling up quickly. At the time of your designated appointment a Social Services staff member will call applicants back to complete this application over the phone. Once all information is gathered processed digitally, the application will be mailed to residents for signing, with return of all the necessary documentation listed below:
ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION IS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2019 Eligibility requirements are:
- 65 years of age or older or 100% disabled, age 18 or older (by 12/31/19)
- 2019 QUALIFYING income (including all Social Security benefits) must not have exceeded $45,100 for a married couple or $37,000 for a single individual
Required Income Documentation (all for calendar year 2019):
- Social Security Income (form SSA 1099) & SSI if applicable
- Copy of 2019 Federal Income Tax Return & all schedules, if filed
1099 forms for pensions, dividends, interest, stocks & bonds, etc.
- W-2’s from employment
- Veterans Disability or Railroad Retirement
- 100% Disabled: Benefit Verification letter from Social Security stating date disability began & proof of SSI benefit, along with other forms listed above, if applicable.
Required Expense Documentation:
- Rent receipts for 2019 (all 12 months)
- Utility bills you paid in 2019 (heat, gas, electric, only). NO telephone, cable or medical bills
Please Note: Rebate checks will not start being mailed out until the end of the application period. Anybody the applicant designates may file an application on their behalf. |
