Matt Ritter is Chosen Speaker of the House-designate
I am pleased to share some exciting news. The Connecticut House Democrats have unanimously selected me as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives of the State of Connecticut.
Speaker of the House is a bipartisan office – the Speaker presides over the entire House – I will work with all members, Republicans and Democrats, as we deliberate and debate important issues over the next two years.
My experience as part of the leadership team over the past four years has been a graduate degree in legislating. I look forward to partnering with our new Majority Leader Jason Rojas and Minority Leader Vin Candelora as we work together to lead and move Connecticut forward.
There are immediate challenges, like how to conduct the people's business during a global pandemic. Our work begins immediately to ensure we have a successful and safe 2021 legislative session.
