November 20, 2020

House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-East Hartford) today announced New Haven/East Haven State Representative Roland Lemar will continue to serve as House Chair of the Transportation Committee.

"Connecticut's transportation infrastructure needs updating, and we must continue working together to make the progress – our economy depends on it," said Speaker-designate Ritter. "I am proud of Rep. Lemar's proven record of leadership on this committee and know, without a doubt, that he is the right person for this job."

Majority Leader designate Rojas said, "Rep. Lemar has led the Transportation Committee through challenging policy debates over the past two years and his leadership will be essential to helping identify a sustainable future for funding transportation infrastructure. Additionally, he has been a leader on improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists as people recognize the value of alternative modes of transportation. I am grateful he will continue to work on the state's legislative transportation priorities."

"I am thankful to our incoming legislative leaders Speaker-designate Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas for reappointing me to serve as House Chair of Transportation," Rep. Lemar stated. "While many of our state transportation challenges remain, I am optimistic that we will work together to build a robust, modernized and interconnected transportation network for our state. I look forward to working on transportation investments across all modes and establishing Connecticut as a Vision Zero state that is committed to eliminating fatalities on our roadways and building true multi-modal options for all our residents."

Roland Lemar was first elected in 2010 to represent the 96th Assembly District of New Haven and East Haven. In addition to serving as Chair of the Transportation Committee, he is currently a member of the Education and the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committees.
