December 2, 2020

House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-East Hartford, Manchester) today announced that State Representative Brandon McGee (D-Hartford, Windsor) will remain the House Chair of the Housing Committee.

"Brandon has brought a fresh and relevant perspective to the Housing committee," said Speaker-designate Ritter. "His dedication and diligence in his work have materialized into meaningful legislation. I look forward to working with my close friend during the 2021 session."

"I am grateful that Rep. McGee has again agreed to serve as House Chair of the Housing Committee," said Majority Leader Jason Rojas. "Rep. McGee grew up in public housing and understands the opportunities and liabilities that housing can present for residents of our state. Housing is critical to supporting family health, economic security and educational opportunity and Rep. McGee understand how these issues intersect and is best prepared to ensure that our housing policy does the most good for the greatest number of people."

"I'm honored to continue as House Chair of the Housing Committee," said McGee. "The COVID pandemic has caused a significant amount of economic strife, and for many, there is uncertainty surrounding their housing situation. This issue needs to be addressed immediately and I plan on doing so during the upcoming session."
