Town of Groton to Receive Grant

January 15, 2021

I am pleased to announce that the town of Groton has received a Community Connectivity Grant. The $344,705 grant will be used to extend the G & S Trolley trail.

The purposed plan outlines two extensions of the trail - one on the Northern part and another on the Eastern:

  • The Northern extension (Depot Road to Route 1) is the first segment of a larger project to create an east west connector from Groton City to Groton Town.
  • The Eastern extension of the proposed project would connect the existing bike-path to a community park and extend through the park to the bike path along Route 1 near the intersection of Ring Drive.

Groton received this funding through the  “Community Connectivity Grant Program” (CCGP). CCGP is an infrastructure improvement program that seeks to provide construction funding for local initiatives that will make towns and cities more accessible for bicyclists and pedestrians.
