African American/Black and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies

Thanks to the hard work by all the members of our Black and Puerto Rican Caucus (BPRC) our public schools are moving forward with a comprehensive curriculum that includes African American/Black and Puerto Rican/Latino Course Studies.

Led by the House Chair of the Education Committee Rep. Bobby Sanchez of New Britain along with BPRC Chair Rep. Gerry Reyes of Waterbury and Vice-chair Bobby Gibson of Bloomfield, recently passed legislation specified the curriculum to be offered as a full-year elective for students to learn about contributions of African Americans and Latinos to the rich history of the United States.
