Waterbury Hospital is receiving $1,238,377 and Saint Mary's $388,946 from the additional $40 million the state is making available through the Coronavirus Relief Fund. Governor Lamont recently announced the funding, which is in addition to $980 million in direct federal aid to hospitals during the pandemic.

Health care providers like Waterbury and Saint Mary's have incurred significant financial hardship to cover unanticipated expenses related to COVID-19. These funds will support the hospitals, and especially the doctors, nurses, staff and administrators who have been working tirelessly – putting their health and the health of their loved ones at risk – while spending long hours and days upon end caring for our family and friends.

As the vaccine reaches more people in Connecticut, let's take comfort in knowing we are ever closer to the pandemic's end.
