She will serve on the Legislative Committee on State Planning and Development

State Representative Christine Goupil (D-Clinton/Killingworth/Westbrook) was appointed to serve on the Legislative Committee on State Planning and Development – a body that engages in economic and environmental planning for the state including farmland and waterways.

"I am honored to have been named to serve on this committee along with a bipartisan group of colleagues to ensure our policies for conservation and development are compatible with local, regional and state plans to safeguard the health and stability of our state resources," Rep. Goupil said.

The Office of Policy and Management prepares a state plan of conservation and development every five years, which is then reviewed and adopted by the CT General Assembly. The committee is currently considering a draft plan that will extend to 2023.

Rep. Goupil has a wealth of experience from her time in local government having been directly involved in producing a local POCD. This experience makes her a perfect fit for this committee,” said House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D – East Hartford/ Manchester). “I am confident she will use her expertise to guide our state’s economic growth and future while protecting our valuable natural resources.”

"Bringing my local experience is beneficial to my role in this committee, as I fully understand the balance of development and environmental protections in place and their impact in the state's overall economic progress. I am grateful to Majority Leader Rojas for his consideration to serve on this committee," Rep. Goupil said.

Representative Rep. Goupil is vice chair of the Planning and Development Committee and a member of the Human Services and Transportation Committees. She encourages local residents to contact her at the Capitol 860-240-8585 – or visit her state web page at:  any time with their opinions on pending legislation, ideas for enhancing State Government, or if assistance is needed navigating any issues with state agencies.
