In an effort to create more convenience and accessibility for Connecticut residents, the state Department of Motor Vehicles has introduced several new features on its website.

Among the new features are:  

  • The ability to request a duplicate driver’s license 
  • The ability to request a duplicate non-driver ID 
  • The ability to view your driving history 

This announcement comes after the announcement one month ago that state residents can now renew their driver's licenses and non-driver IDs online as well.

Avon Numbers: 
First doses administered: 3,831
Percent of total population with their first dose: 20.96%
Percent of ages 65-74 with their first dose: 54.02%
Percent of ages 75+ with their first dose: 80.53%

Canton Numbers:
First doses administered: 1,771
Percent of total population with their first dose: 17.27%
Percent of ages 65-74 with their first dose: 42.91%
Percent of ages 75+ with their first dose: 83.72%

Veteran Eligibility:  
Veteran's Administration (VA) Connecticut Healthcare System is now offering COVID-19 vaccine to all enrolled veterans regardless of age.

Depending on location, VA Connecticut patients will receive either the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. As of Feb. 28, the healthcare system has vaccinated approximately 17,000 enrolled patients through a series of scheduled appointments and walk-in clinics. 

Veterans not contacted by VA who wish to schedule an appointment at the Putnam clinic can call 203-932-5711 ext. 5627. 

Key Information for Attendees: 

  • Veterans (any age) must be enrolled for care with VA to receive the vaccine. 
  •  We are administering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Location will determine which vaccine you receive. 
  • Availability is first come, first served. 
  •  Mask and physical distancing required. To maintain physical distancing, if possible, please don’t bring anyone with you to the clinic.
 
Boy Scout Troop 274 Can & Bottle Drive 
Avon Scout Troop 274 is holding a Can and Bottle Drive Saturday, March 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of West Avon Congregational Church, located at 280 Country Club Road.

All proceeds from the drive go directly to Avon Scouts who are attending summer adventure trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Boy Scout Summer Camp in CT, and backpacking treks around Lake George.
