Women's History Month

March 12, 2021

This is a time to recognize all the incredible women who have fought for our rights over the past 200 years, as well as all the incredible women who today make our communities a better place.

After the 2020 election, the Connecticut Legislature has more women serving than ever before. I am honored to be one of them. While this is an accomplishment to be celebrated, I encourage more women to engage in  politics so that all levels of government better reflect our communities.

And this Women’s History Month, I also celebrate legislation that has contributed to making Connecticut a leader in women’s rights. H.B. 5386 was signed into law in 2018 prohibiting employers, including the state, from asking about a prospective employee's wage and salary history. We agree that more needs to be done and our fight for equity will continue.
