Tax Credits Approved by Finance Committee Support Families & BusinessesApril 27, 2021
Our House Chair of the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee, Rep. Sean Scanlon of Guilford, said numerous proposals in the committee’s budget package provide historic tax relief for Connecticut residents and aid businesses in the continued recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our challenge in the wake of a devastating health and economic crisis was to put together a budget that met the moment and helped Connecticut businesses and families recover," said Rep. Scanlon.
"Whether it’s through passing the largest tax cut in state history for middle and working class families in the form of a state child tax credit and an increased Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or tax relief for businesses, we are putting more money in the pockets of those who need it most right now and making investments in policies that will help grow our state.
"The Finance Committee’s role in the budget process is to set priorities for the upcoming negotiations between legislative leadership and the Governor, and we have done that.” said Rep. Scanlon.
The full legislature is set to consider a full budget bill in late May or early June.
