COVID-19 Vaccine Update

May 14, 2021

With summer just around the corner, Governor Lamont announced great news for  families in Connecticut. Connecticut residents 12 through 15 years of age are now eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

Parents and guardians of eligible children can schedule an appointment through the state portal.

The Governor and State Public Health Commissioner are working to set up vaccination sites at local schools and youth programs across Connecticut to increase accessibility to as many children as possible.

With 170,000 children newly eligible, this is an exciting step towards the safe re-opening of our state!

And in case you missed it, in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new guidance, the Governor announced yesterday that Connecticut residents who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors beginning next Wednesday, May 19.

The mask mandate will be lifted for vaccinated people the same day that other COVID-19 restrictions are being rolled back in the state. Keep in mind that individual, private businesses can still require masks to be worn by patrons and customers, but the State will no longer be requiring businesses to do so. The new CDC and State guidance also does not change the requirement for masks on airplanes, buses, trains and for other certain areas.
