Parentage Act Becomes State Law
June 1, 2021Happy Pride!
Today I joined my colleagues, Governor Ned Lamont, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and LGBTQ+ advocates to usher in Pride Month with a ceremonial signing of the Connecticut Parentage Act, which updates Connecticut’s parentage laws to ensure every child has access to a legal parent relationship. We closed the ceremony by raising the Pride flag over the Capitol.
As one of only 3 openly gay legislators in the General Assembly, I'm often asked why we celebrate Pride month.
Pride is a tribute to the progress achieved by the LGBTQ+ trailblazers who refused to be silenced.
Pride is a commitment to continuing our fight for the full equality of the LGBTQ+ community.
Pride is a celebration of being who you are, no excuses.
I want to give a special Happy Pride shout out to all of Connecticut’s closeted LGBTQ+ youth who can't come out yet. You've got this, you are loved, and we will continue to fight for you.
