DPS Named Among ‘Best Communities For Music Education’ Again!

June 2, 2021

I'd like to offer a heartfelt congratulations to the Danbury Public Schools district for once again being recognized as a 2021 “Best Communities for Music Education School District” for its commitment to and support of music education!

This is third consecutive year in which such an honor has been bestowed on DPS by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) which recently released a list of 686 school districts nationwide.

Danbury was recognized as one of 23 districts in the state to receive the honor.

DPS Tops Again

According to a press release from the Danbury Board of Education, to qualify for the Best Communities designation, DPS answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,400 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.
