Health Care Legislation

June 16, 2021
This session, the legislature expanded HUSKY healthcare coverage, regardless of immigration status, to children 8 and under, pregnant women, and women who have just given birth.

While this was a good start, I advocated strongly for a HUSKY for ALL program to create a health care system for ALL Connecticuts residents, regardless of immigration status.

I also proposed another bill to create a state single payer healthcare program that would have covered undocumented residents. When this program did not pass out of committee, we were hopeful to pass a broad economic impact study of single payer health care on the state level. This did not pass either despite its very low cost. What if it revealed savings to ALL? To be continued..

Unfortunately, those bills did not pass but I will continue to work hard and diligently on health care reform backed by the true meaning of "healthcare is a human right".
