HB 6606 Passes in the House

May 19, 2021

Great news! HB 6606 just passed the House and is now headed to the Senate. This legislation, which was developed by my fellow co-chairs of the Main Street Working Group, would require the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development (DECD) to conduct a study relating to economic development issues affecting distressed municipalities and would also develop a task force charged with studying the renovation of historic mixed-use buildings in Connecticut.

This bill would also extend the statewide guidelines for outdoor dining beyond the period of the Governor's emergency orders in order to stabilize the restaurant industry.

I am thrilled that this bill passed with bipartisan support and look forward to following it through the rest of its legislative journey. Thanks to everyone who offered their support, especially to my fellow members of the Main Street Working Group - State  Representatives Jennifer Leeper and Q Phipps.
