HB 6484 Passes in House

June 7, 2021

The Connecticut House of Representatives passed legislation that is an important first step in expanding rail services in our community. HB 6484 is a comprehensive bill that includes several recommendations from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

One of the provisions of the bill indicates that the CT DOT will study the feasibility of establishing a new passenger train station in Groton.  The DOT will also study extending the Shore Line East rail line to Rhode Island and a new passenger rail service  from New London to  Norwich.

These additions would greatly benefit our community - a passenger train station will make Groton more accessible and connect us with the rest of the state.
