Waterbury Gets Millions in State Grants

July 29, 2021

I worked alongside Representatives Butler, Reyes, DiGiovancarlo, and Senator Hartley with these bond requests. I want to thank Governor Lamont and Bond Commission members for their support of these projects that will improve the quality of life for Waterbury residents.

Bunker Hill is one of the most popular parks in Waterbury. Improvements to the park will increase recreational opportunities, boost property values and the local economy. Bunker Hill plays a vital role in the social, economic, and physical well-being of our residents. Having grown up near Bunker Hill, I have many fond memories of playing and enjoying activities with friends and family at the park.

NVCC is in our district and this grant will make the campuses more accessible to people with physical disabilities. These improvements will ensure that a quality, low-cost education is available to everyone.

The athletic fields at Wilby High School will be getting a new look with synthetic turf on the football field and an 8-lane track around the perimeter. For too long the athletic facilities have been in disrepair. Once the upgrades are made the Wildcat student-athletes will have their home field back and no longer be disadvantaged by playing all their games on the road.

I am pleased these grants have been approved for projects that benefit all Waterbury residents.
