Dear Neighbor,

Please join me on Saturday, September 25 at 9 a.m. for a Community Clean-Up!

This clean-up is in partnership with the Park Road Association Beautification Club to beautify our neighborhood in advance of the Park Road Parade on October 2!

Volunteers are needed to support this community-wide effort to pick up the overwhelming amount of litter along roads, sidewalks, in green spaces and more. Advanced registration is not required. Participants should check in at Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road in West Hartford. Check in begins at 8:45 a.m.

If you are interested in volunteering as a walk captain, please email Tracy Flater and John Paindiris at info@ParkRoadCT.com

I hope to see you there!

LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS

Earlier this week, I held a panel discussion on the Transportation and Climate Initiative Program (TCI) with Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes, Connecticut Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto, and Save Our Sound and 20th District resident Alex Rodriguez.

The latest DEEP report reveals that greenhouse gas emissions from vehicle exhaust and building heating and cooling in the state are increasing, which is not in line with the substantial reductions that will be needed to meet the 2030 and 2050 reduction targets set by the General Assembly.

The TCI is a multi-state initiative to cut greenhouse gases and transform our transportation system in an effort to address climate change. With this plan, Connecticut could be a climate leader and help to stabilize our Earth's climate for 2050 and beyond.

If you missed the discussion, you can watch a recording of it here or click the image above. I welcome any questions you might have about this proposal.

In response to the Texas 6-week abortion ban, I was proud to join Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, my legislative colleagues and advocates last Thursday to commit to protecting and expanding reproductive health care. The Texas abortion ban is an unconstitutional effort to overturn nearly 50 years of U.S. Supreme Court precedent. Thank you to Attorney General Tong for joining the 24 state coalition challenging the ban.

Abortion is health care. Health care is a human right.
