Dear Friends and Neighbors,
They say that when you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance. So our collective goal for tomorrow’s Small Business Saturday is to get those feet movin’!
This holiday season, especially, we hope you will strongly consider shopping to support small, locally owned, businesses in our community. By supporting neighbors, acquaintances, and friends-we’ve-yet-to-meet, you’re helping little Luke get his first pair of tap shoes on his way to his Broadway debut, or young Layla buy the bat that hits her first homerun on her way to Olympic Gold. More importantly, you’re helping those entrusted with making these dreams come true put food on the table, heat in the house, and keep a roof over their heads. We don’t often see the blood, sweat, and tears that go in to opening, let alone sustaining, a small business, but what we can see and be a part of this season is helping that business build back, if need be, and thrive.
Many of our state's small businesses were devastated by the pandemic. They went out of their way to keep employees, consumers, and communities safe by implementing strategies to slow the spread of the virus. A second holiday season later, our locally owned businesses continue to face challenges keeping their doors open. A boost in sales during the busiest shopping time of the year could be what these businesses need to succeed and give owners a chance to breathe. |
