$2 Million for Woodbridge

March 31, 2022

I am excited to share that earlier today, the State Bond Commission approved our request for $2 million in state bonding to convert the old firehouse in Woodbridge into a new community center.

This is a major victory for Woodbridge and will be a vital step in establishing a valuable resource for the entire community to utilize. I would like to thank my colleagues State Senators James Maroney and Jorge Cabrera for their work on this request, Bonding Chairs Senator Marilyn Moore and Representative Dorinda Borer for their advocacy, Senate President Pro Temp Martin Looney, and Governor Ned Lamont for recognizing the need for this project.

Veteran Suicide Prevention
I hope you will join me TOMORROW, April 1st from 10AM - 12PM, for a virtual summit on preventing veteran suicide. This topic is near and dear to my heart, so I want to hear from you on all we can do as elected officials to craft good policy to keep those safe who protect us every day.

Aid for Ukraine
As we continue to watch the horrifying and saddening conflict between Russia and Ukraine, I wanted to remind you all that we do not have to sit back helplessly, there are ways we can offer aid and support to the innocent citizens of Ukraine. I recently purchased a beautiful ribbon made by a local mom from Ukraine and am proud to hang in on my front door.
I also reached out to a fellow community member, Olena Lennon, who provided us with this list of legitimate donation sites for aid to the Ukrainian community.

Our community, state and country all stand with the innocent citizens of Ukraine and we will continue to do all we can to offer support while actively trying to deescalate conflict.
