New London Awarded CT Communities Challenge Grant
New London has just been awarded $5.9 million under the newly established CT Communities Challenge Grant to help renovate several buildings on State, Bank, Water and South Water streets.
The project will result in 54 mixed-income housing units, 10 boutique hotel rooms, and more than 5,000 sq. ft. of retail space. It will also allow the Garde Arts Center to accommodate larger productions.
New London is one of 12 towns and cities to share the first round of grant money from this program. The grants are leveraging approximately $74 million in non-state and private dollars and will support projects that improve the livability and vibrancy of communities throughout the state.
