The 2022 Legislative Session ended last week, and we accomplished so much for the hardworking people of Ansonia, Derby, and in communities like ours across the state. As Vice Chair of the legislature's Commerce Committee, I was proud to lead several debates on items that advance our state's workforce and economic development efforts, like legislation that works to address women's return to work after COVID-19 (SB 407) and encourage more participation in our state's Brownfield Remediation and Revitalization Program (SB 218), among many others.
In addition to leading on critical initiatives to maintain our state's economic recovery, I proudly supported the state budget, which provides historic tax cuts to residents and invests in key programs to promote economic growth, create more jobs and attract more businesses to Connecticut. One program I would like to highlight is the JobsCT tax rebate program, which was developed in the Commerce Committee. The JobsCT program will offer tax credits to businesses of all sizes that create new jobs in our state. This program will double the tax credit for businesses that create jobs in economically distressed municipalities like ours! |
