Representative Leeper Secures $75K in State Funding for New Scoreboard at Fairfield Ludlowe High School

May 23, 2022

State Representative Jennifer Leeper (D-Fairfield, Southport) applauds the passage of the fiscal year 2023 state budget adjustment package, which include $75,000 in funding for a new scoreboard at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

“I am thrilled to have been able to secure $75,000 in state bonding aid for a new, and much-needed, scoreboard at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. As a former BOE member, I know how expensive it is to keep up with all of the facility needs of our 17 schools," said Rep. Leeper. "The current scoreboard is nearly 20 years old and hasn’t been properly functioning for many, many years. Ludlowe student-athletes, and all those who utilize their turf field, have been patiently waiting for this upgrade and I hope this improvement will be enjoyed by them and countless student-athletes for years to come."

"On behalf of the Fairfield Public Schools, we thank Representative Leeper for her support of our student-athletes.  The improvement of our facilities is a priority for both town and school officials and her support is a great help," said Mike Cummings, Superintendent of Fairfield Public Schools.

"Investing in the athletic infrastructure of our school and town has been a priority for all town officials this budget cycle. I thank Representative Leeper for her advocacy in securing this funding for Fairfield," said Christine Vitale, Chair of the Fairfield Board of Education.

The legislature passed the $24 billion state budget adjustment package in the 2022 Legislative Session, providing $600 million in tax relief for working families and makes meaningful investments in education, childcare, and children's mental health.
