| I am happy to share that the New London Area Food Pantry and New London Community Meal Center received nearly $20,000 through the Food System Capacity Building Grant. These grants - allocated through the Connecticut Department of Agriculture - were awarded to increase food access and address food insecurity.
How Funds Will Be Utilized:
- New London Area Food Pantry: $10,000 - Purchase Walk-in Refrigeration to store food products
- New London Community Meal Center: $9,812.88 - Offer continuing service through their Food Justice Action Team
I am proud to hear that our community received two of the eight awarded grants totaling over $79,000. The selfless work these local organizations do to serve our residents in need is vital, and I am thankful that they will now be able to expand those services thanks to this grant funding. |
