NEWLY ELECTED STATE REPRESENTATIVE FIGUEROA SWORN IN MONDAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL
Rep. Figueroa won a special election in the 148th district.
Anabel Figueroa (D-Stamford) was sworn in Monday at the State Capitol as the state representative for the Connecticut General Assembly's 148th district after winning a special election in late February. She is the first Latina to hold this seat.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the House Chamber.
"I am honored to represent the constituents in my district and am thankful for their faith in my leadership. I am grateful to be the first Latina to serve in this seat and thank those who came before me," said Rep. Figueroa.
Rep. Figueroa is born in El Salvador and has lived in Stamford for 40 years. She currently serves on the Stamford Board of Representatives for the 8th district and works in the local healthcare system as a medical & surgical unit coordinator.
Rep. Figueroa will serve on the Aging, Executive and Legislative Nominations, and Commerce Committees for the 2023 Legislative Session.
