Welcome New Representatives
On Monday, our newest members were sworn in! Special elections were held in Stamford and Hartford to fill seats that were previously held by representatives that moved on to new opportunities. One was held in Middletown for the seat previously held by my friend and mentor Rep. Quentin Williams who we tragically lost in a motor vehicle accident when his car was struck by another driver going the wrong way.
It was a bittersweet event, but I hope you will join me in welcoming Representative Anabel Figueroa (Stamford), Representative Kai Belton (Middletown) and Representative James Sanchez (Hartford) to Connecticut House Democrats. I hope your first week on the job was a success, I am excited to get to work with you all. |

International Women's Day
March is Women's History Month and this past Wednesday, March 8, was International Women's Day. A day to celebrate women who have inspired change throughout history, and recognize those who continue to fight for the fair and equitable treatment of women and girls around the world.
I want to take a moment to celebrate and highlight the many accomplishments of all the women in the Connecticut General Assembly, both past and present. Our work and representation is vital in ensuring Connecticut is a safe, fair and equitable place for women and girls. It is truly an honor working with every one of you! |

Read Across America in Woodbridge
On Thursday I participated in a special school-wide reading event and had the opportunity to read “The Little Red Fort” to Ms. Blinstrubas’s Second Grade classroom. The children were amazing listeners and so excited to read a new book together. Thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff for welcoming us so warmly into Beecher Road School! |

My colleagues and I continue to be hard at work as we progress through the Committee process. This week, all three Committees I sit on have begun "JF'ing" bills. This means that we have either voted a bill out to the floor of its adjacent chamber (House or Senate), or refer it to the appropriate Committee for additional review.
I encourage you to visit each Committee's webpage to access all resources regarding upcoming or past public hearing agendas, meeting agendas, testimony and more. |
