Updates from State Rep. Chris Poulos - May 5, 2023

May 5, 2023
Connecticut voters asked the legislature for more voting options through a constitutional amendment on early voting that they overwhelmingly approved last November, and Thursday we answered the call.

The House of Representatives approved HB 5004, a measure that will allow early voting in our state beginning in 2024.

This legislation modernizes the state's elections and allows for more convenience and fairness in the process, reflecting the realities of hectic modern-day life.

Eligible voters will be able to cast in-person ballots ahead of Election Day for both regular and special elections, as well as primaries.

Passage of this bill in the House is a step towards improving access to the ballot box for all eligible Connecticut voters.

CGA Kickball Classic

The Democrats took on the Republicans in the Second Annual CGA Kickball Classic on Monday at Dunkin' Park, and though the Republicans won on the scoreboard again, the real winners were the charities we raised money for in a bipartisan manner.

The charities included The Q Fund, in memory of our beloved State Representative Quentin “Q.” Williams for the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, and the SARAH FOUNDATION in memory of State Representative Noreen Korkoruda. Many who attended also donated nonperishable food items to Connecticut Foodshare.

Thank you to the bipartisan "Kickball Caucus" of State Representatives Eleni Kavros DeGraw, Corey Paris, Nicole Klarides-Ditria and Joe Polletta for their organizational efforts and to the Hartford Yard Goats for letting us have fun for good causes in their beautiful stadium!
