Rep. Allie-Brennan Continues to Fund Programming for Bethel and Danbury Youth

June 7, 2023

State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan (D-Bethel, Danbury) is excited to announce that over $300,000 has been secured in the newly adopted state budget to advance after-school programming at the Bethel Public Library and Danbury Youth Services.

This is the 5th year in a row that Representative Allie-Brennan has secured funding through the state's Judicial Branch Support Services and Youth Violence Prevention program.

"Last session, I worked with the Friends of the Bethel Public Library to create a safe and welcoming place where Bethel teens can congregate, study, and attend programs using technological tools like 3D printing, laser engraving, video and animation equipment,” said Rep. Allie-Brennan. “This additional funding will bolster the library’s services, increase its resources, and provide a more enriching experience for our youth.”

"Over the past two years the Bethel Public Library has strived to establish an inviting and inclusive environment where young community members can gather, acquire skills, and engage in collaborative endeavors," said Megan Dean, Director of Bethel Public Library. "We are extremely grateful to Rep. Allie-Brennan for the generous support in funding our library's transformation.  With this funding, the library will continue to grow its spaces and programming for teens."

“We can never go wrong when we invest in our youth," said Rep. Allie-Brennan. "Our kids are safer when they are building character and leadership skills in programs at Danbury Youth Services. With this funding, we can ensure that kids have the necessary resources and opportunities to flourish and reach their full potential. I am honored to have led this effort and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our community."

"Our agency is grateful that Rep. Allie-Brennan recognizes the needs in our community and advocates for our youth. The funding that he has secured allows Danbury Youth Services to provide high-quality mental health care and rich educational experiences for young people. We plan to expand our after-school programs and increase opportunities for youth to develop social, emotional, and leadership skills while building connections in the community," said Tammy Mikadze, Executive Director of Danbury Youth Services.
