The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced the I-95 Northbound Safety Improvements construction project in Groton, Stonington, and North Stonington is anticipated to begin Monday, April 3.
This project will improve traffic and roadside safety along this section of interstate highway through roadway and bridge improvements.
Roadway improvements include:
Crack sealing select portions of I-95 within the project limits
Full depth pavement reconstruction in a select portion of I-95 mainline
Mill and overlay on select portions of I-95 mainline
Mill and overlay of the interchange ramps
Construction will begin slowly and have minimal impact to traffic, with right side shoulder closures.
Work will initially be done during the day, with night work expected in May.
